“Therefore, at some point, you closed the door behind the God of the religions. You banished this God from your life, never to look at him again. In a way, this kind of God became a taboo for you.
But of course, leaving God behind is not as simple as closing a door, for your experiences with God left their marks on you. They went straight into your unconscious, waiting to be triggered.
At some point, you set out on the path to enlightenment and God became less and less important to you. You realized that ultimately it is all about you, about your choices, about your awareness. This felt good.
The more progress you made, the more you forgot your history with God. But then, as you let go of more and more beliefs, of more and more attachments, as you get through the outer void into the inner void, as the final letting go seems close, in such a quiet moment your fear of God – buried deep in your unconscious – comes to the surface. And as always, it may disguise itself.
Maybe it makes you feel physically uncomfortable, maybe it creates doubt about what you are doing, or maybe it produces some fear that you cannot put your finger on. But whatever your unconscious makes up, in the end it is telling you that you are not ready. You are not yet ready to face the judgment of God.
You need to improve a bit. You need to become holy, or perfect, or save the world. So, you leave the quiet moment. You go back into human mode. You may even pat yourself on the back for your deep experience. And then you go on as usual.
Dear friends, it may sound exaggerated, but I see it all the time. But then, none of this is real. None of your experiences with God happened in true reality.”
